„If, then, the analysis of sense itself has no standards of determinacy of sense at its disposal (which could be applied to the proposition from outside), but is simply a procedure by which a proposition whose sense is not determinate is to be treated, *how does one know* when a proposition has sense and when it does not, or when it needs analysis and when it does not? On the basis of its *use with sense* (cf. e.g. TLP 3.326) – this is the *foundation of sense*, and of all philosophy relating to sense (analysis of sense, theory of sense and, in their wake, ontology and epistemology), which cannot be gone behind: and it is already here, in my view, that a pragmatic interpretation of the TLP must begin, because only in this way can the concept of autarkic sense, of autarkic analysis of sense and of an autarkic theory of sense be realized."
